Participants: No Limit — but please register by Aug 5th to assist with the planning.
Costs: $65 if camping with the group (based on a minimum of 25 campers), $27 if you are arranging your own accommodation, $10 if not participating in any group social activities. The cost includes: organization, maps, group happy hour snacks and a salmon dinner on Saturday.
Join us to cycle in the pleasant Fraser Valley and camp at Brae Island Regional Park on the Fraser River. This year is very special: it's the 200th anniversary of Simon Fraser's epic journey past this place; and it's British Columbia's 150th anniversary, proclaimed in Fort Langley. The Village has many attractions, facilities and is only a short 600-metre walk from the campsite.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting from Brae Island Park near the campground we'll offer you a choice of three rides: a leisurely rural route of 40 to 60 km, an intermediate route of 60 to 80 km, and an extended route over 80 km. Some rides will take the soon to be eliminated Albion ferry to the north side of the Fraser River; there will also be some new routes and perhaps a few with a drive to the start. Shorter rides will also be available Thursday afternoon and Monday morning.
The campground has recently been improved with new "upscale" washrooms and showers, and a new group shelter where the Club's stoves will be available for cooking. If you prefer to stay in a motel, the Travelodge Langley (20470-88th Ave, ph 604-888-4891) is about 6 km from the campground and offers rooms at $90 + tax (1 queen or 2 doubles); or the Sleep Inn (6722 Glover Road, ph 604-514-3111) is about 7 km from the campground and offers rooms at $72 + tax (1 queen), or $80 + tax (2 doubles).
There are three B&B's in the village: Salmon River 604-888-7937, Ivy Cottage 604-888-9804, Cranberry Country 604-882-7567.

The tour skirts Roseburg, before entering the southern Umpqua River valley, following the historic Applegate Trail to a campsite on the Umpqua River near Canyonville. The next two days will be on BLM (Bureau of Land Management) Back Country Byway roads. The BLM developed these roads for wildlife viewing, hiking, and biking. Day two will follow Cow Creek from Tri-Cities to Glendale. Day three follows Lower Wolf Creek and Graves Creek until it meets the Rogue River. Day four starts out along the Rogue River, before entering the Applegate valley of orchards and vineyards. A downhill ride will take us into historic Jacksonville on Day 5. After a leisurely morning exploring this town, you'll be on your way to Ashland and our campsite for two nights at Emigrant Lake. Day 6 is your day. Hike the 12 miles around Emigrant Lake, just hang out at campsite, cycle into Ashland to take in a matinee at the Shakespeare Festival, or to do a strenuous ride up to the Mt. Ashland ski area. Day 7 starts out with a serious climb up Hwy 66, a historic and scenic highway, before turning to pass Hyatt Lake, Howard Prairie Lake and continue through quiet forests to cabins at Willow Lake. Day 8 is an easy day, with a 33-mile ride to Joseph Stewart State Park on Lost Lake Reservoir. Hiking and biking trails await you at the lake. Day 9 has a scenic 3600 ft. climb to Diamond Lake. A restful night in motel rooms should prepare you for your morning 2000-3000 ft. climb up to Crater Lake. After lunch at a viewpoint, plan to spend the afternoon coasting downhill pass numerous waterfalls to our last night camping at Susan Creek campground on the Umpqua River. Description: The CCCTS, in conjunction with Bike China Adventures Inc., have designed a 1000 km, eighteen day tour of the Sichuan Basin and the Tibetan Plateau located in South Western China. The tour begins and ends in the city of Chengdu and is designed as a challenging ride which includes three passes exceeding 4000 meters. We will begin in the heart of the Sichuan basin and travel into the foothills of the Himalayas visiting the Wolong Panda Reserve, the Tibetan town of Danba with their fascinating defensive towers, then on to the Hailougou Glacier Park at the foot of Mt. George. (7500meter or 24,800 ft) This tour will visit both well-known and little-known sights and should appeal to those who have cultural, social or geographical interests.
This is a SAG supported, all- inclusive tour, utilizing one to three star Chinese hotels with the exception of one night at a no-star hotel.
The tour was advertised very early to insure that all our present membership had an equal opportunity to participate. The response has been overwhelming, to say the least. The potential participants will be chosen in the order in which their application was / will be received at the CCCTS office. As double occupancy will be the standard, some adjustment may be required to facilitate gender unless everyone is really openminded. It is hoped that we will publish the initial list of participants in the May CCCTS Newsbrief along with the waiting list.
Payment: $50 with initial application (Non refundable) $500 on deposit at CCCTS office 15 Jan. 2009 (Non refundable unless replacement from waiting list.)
Balance (to be determined in Canadian dollars) 1st Sept. 2009 (After this last installment is paid to CCCTS no refund period. All funds at this point are transferred to Bike China Adventures Inc.)
All cheques etc. are to be made payable to CCCTS with a note stating funds for China Tour.
Rob Fawcett, the Canadian representative of Bike China Adventures Inc. has accepted an invitation to attend our Spring General Meeting, 8 April 08, to answer any questions.
WE STRESS THAT EACH APPLICANT MUST ASSESS HIS / HER OWN PERSONAL FITNESS LEVEL AND HEALTH CONDITION IN ADVANCE OF THIS CHALLENGING ADVENTURE, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE SMOG OF THE CHINESE CITIES AND THE ANOXIC CONDITIONS OF THE HIGH MOUNTAIN PASSES.
