There were twenty of us on the Prince Rupert to Prince George tour last August, some of whom had got to the start after a tour on the Island. We were 11 men and 9 women. Eleven of us were born in Canada, 6 in the US, and 1 each in Germany, the UK, and South Africa. The average age of the group as a whole was 66. The average age of the men was 67, ranging from 53 to 79 years. The average age of the women was 65, ranging from72 to 44 years.
It was a good group and a good tour. There were three main reasons for this. First must be the organisation and management, which were flexible, efficient, and laid-back. Getting along from point A to point B every day was undemanding. Secondly, it was easy to get along with each other, with interesting life experiences and stories to be exchanged. Thirdly, the roads were relatively traffic free with good shoulders for all but the final section into Prince George.
In addition, the weather cooperated, the meals were excellent, and the scenery was spectacular, especially on the rest day when most of us took a coach tour to Stewart, and across the border to Hyder in Alaska. A selection of images will hopefully give some idea of our journey.
It would be an invidious task to pick people to thank as we all seemed to contribute to a most congenial cycle tour.
